Yankees rookie sets MLB postseason record in Wild Card win

Former MLB star Tom Gordon spoke to Fox News Digital about being a character in a Stephen King novel.

In a postseason game in the Bronx on Thursday night, New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler made history by throwing eight scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts and no walks. The Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox 4-0 in Game 3 of the Wild Card series, advancing to the ALDS.

Schlittler's impressive performance earned praise from Red Sox manager Alex Cora, who described it as "perfect." He became the first player in MLB Postseason history to achieve eight scoreless innings with 12 or more strikeouts and no walks.

The game saw the Yankees facing off against Red Sox rookie pitcher Connelly Early. Schlittler's strong pitching was matched by Early until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Yankees scored their first run through Amed Rosario's RBI single.

The Yankees extended their lead with hits from Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Anthony Volpe, followed by a crucial error from Nathaniel Lowe that allowed two more runs to score. Schlittler continued to dominate on the mound, supported by a solid defensive performance from the team.

With the win, the Yankees advanced to face the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS. Game 1 is scheduled for Saturday at 4:10 p.m. ET.
